| I chose to become a pharmacist because I have always had a strong interest in biology. It seemed natural for me to gravitate toward a career as a pharmacist. Pharmacy offered me the opportunity to focus on human biology and drugs used to cure or manage specific diseases. I graduated in 1991 from University of Portsmouth, UK and completed a one-year residency program with largest retail chain in UK, Boots the Chemist. The residency allowed me to train in oxygen therapy, hosiery measure & fitting, compounding and homepathic treatments. Pharmacy has a various settings from hospital to retail to nuclear. I worked in retail setting with a few outfits including CVS & Walgreens for almost 15 years and then started my career in Long Term Care for residents in nursing home environement, skilled and assisted living facilities. In this field, I gained experience in intravenous/infusion therapy as well as enhance my compounding experience. After three years in this field I decided to return to the retail environment to share my experiences with the Community I serve from the old-fashioned neighborhood stores where I consider each patient as a client I can influence rather than a number/profit. |
